Neutral Throw Pillow Combinations

1. The Soft Neutral Combo

This soft neutral combo creates a light and airy feel. The solid cream linen pillows on the outside are a great foundational pillow that you can continue to change and layer other pillows with in the future too.

I love the design on the light brown flower pillows and they look very similar to a designer pillow I have seen before. The light brown color gives just a subtle contrast that creates a classic vibe. The center window pane cream pillow brings in an additional texture and pattern that compliments the floral pillow nicely.

This look would be a great compliment to a living room that has alot of pattern or contrast in other areas of the room. However this look really can compliment any room and make the space feel elegant and sophisticated.

2. The Neutral Brown Combo

This neutral brown throw pillow combo is a little moody, which I love. The rich brown colors are a beautiful contrast against the cream/beige sofa. The brown houndstooth pillow acts like a solid foundational pillow but has a subtle pattern that adds interest.

The rich brown floral pillow works with the houndstooth pillow because it is a larger scale pattern paired with a small scale pattern. I think they look beautifully curated and thoughtful together. With two patterns, it is nice to layer a solid cream pillow with them in the center. I love that the cream lumbar pillow has a soft texture that adds a little more personality.

This pillow combination would look beautiful in a contemporary, traditional style home, but the neutral pallete will work with most other home styles too.

3. The Warm & Cozy Combo

This combo might be my favorite.

I love the camel color pillows, they compliment a cream/beige sofa really well. I actually have these camel pillow covers in my master bedroom paired with a beige quilt and white duvet. They are so pretty and they are a soft chenille fabric.

The vintage floral pillows give a designer feel to this curated look. I love that they have a mix of neutral colors with touches of the camel color that compliments the outer pillows perfectly. The textured lumbar pillow with a subtle camel texture just finishes the look off beautifully.

4. The Modern Organic Combo

This modern organic combination is so fun. It pairs three paterns but they all compliment each other and create a curated designer style look.

The brown window pane pillows act like a solid, since the pattern is all one color. I really love a neutral stripe pillow paired with a floral pillow too. It makes the look feel thoughtfully designed.

This throw pillow combination has an updated modern contemporary style vibe. Perfect for a a modern or contempory style home.

Final Thoughts & Sizing Tips

It can feel a little overwhelming to find throw pillows that compliment each other, have an elegant designer style look, and are budget friendly. I think these Amazon pillow cover combinations do just that.

Deciding on what pillow sizes you need to create the look you want is important too. These are the simple sizing formulas that I use for my sofa pillow combinations.

Pillow Insert Sizing: I like to use 22″x22″ size pillow inserts for my outer pillows, 20″x20″ pillow inserts for the second layer pillows and a 12″x20″ pillow insert for the lumbar center pillow. I purchase all of my pillow inserts on Amazon also. They have great affordable options that are soft and fluffy.

Pillow Cover Sizing Tip: The trick to making your pillows look full, smooth, and structured is to size down on the pillow covers just one size. So, for the outer 22″x22″ size inserts use 20″x20″ pillow covers. For the second layer 20″x20″ pillows use 18″x18″ pillow covers and for the lumbar pillow a 12″x20″ pillow cover works just fine. This trick will make your sofa look crisp and polished.
